do you think people are capable of changing from bad to good?

anyone from a rapist to a cheater to a drinker or just a cynic. do you think that if someone is one way they can change and become a better person? this isn't for myself, i just want to see what people think

My dad was an alcholic and he has now been sober for about 2 years. He really changed his life around. So in all reality I think people can change. :)

rarely. most things that cause people to be a 'bad' person are habbits and habbits are truly hard to break w/o either hitting rock bottom and realizing you really don't need it or trulying seeing the err of your ways and sometimes turning to god will really work

most are ingrained into them because it's always worked for them and worked out for them to be this 'bad' way. the mom and always covers for her son's bad deed, the family that keeps supporting the 'bad' child. stuff like that. usually those people will say they'll change but they go right back after seeing the light for a few days or weeks.

yes, people, no matter how bad can change to good as long as they are determined and has had some sense knocked into them. they have to realize what they've been doing was wrong all this time, otherwise it won't work. but i think it really depends on the person, his environment and companions. take a little boy for example. a little boy who grew up in a nice family will most likely be nice, on the other hand, a little boy who grew up surrounded by jerks will most likely end up being a jerk as well. influence from the people around you plays a big part in honing your values.

Yes because it's happened to me. I was an addict for awhile & I didn't care about anybody but myself , my parents even had to call the cops on me a few times because I was acting like a "crazy" person.

I started to hate myself sooooo much , & I quit.

Now looking back at it , It dosn't even sound like somthing I would do .. almost like it was a different person. My parents forgave eventually, & they never talk about it now.

People can change if they really want to.. it takes time though & lots of it.

rarely, but they can't. I mean, I don't want to be a non-believer but that's me, I just don't trust people (bad experiences) but some people really can change. and not just from bad to good, but also from good to bad. (one of my..let's say friendsis the right example -.-'')

only sometimes. it depends on the situation and what that person did. if someone can do something once, what is going to stop them from doing it again?

i think that people make mistakes in life;
some bigger then others.
but everyone always will have another chance with god and anyone else.
and like i always say.
only god can judge me.
you knoo.?
so when people say sometimes, never or rarely.
i think that they dont have any moral stands.
and im not saying to trust anyone and everyone you meet because
there are messed up people out there.
im just saying that people are capable of changing.they just have to have support and love.
from god and family.
its kinda hard to explain what i mean;i hope you get me.?
