Balenciaga has chosen one of her biggest fans to be their face for 2012. We're talking about none other than Twilight star Kristen Stewart who will promote the next fragrance to be launched by the brand.
Successes keep rolling for Kristen Stewart who, aside from
staring in a variety of ultra successful movies scheduled to be
launched this year, has also scored a wonderful marketing gig as
the new face of the Balenciaga fragrance set to be
launched this year.
For Kristen, the offer could not have been more flattering as she
is a long time fan of the luxury label: “Even when I first began to
consider fashion and admittedly rarely
knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved
Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that
spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The
brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It
provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It
hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable.”
But it was not only her fondness for the label that helped her
get the offer to represent it. Balenciaga Creative Director Nicolas
Ghesquière reveals the set of circumstances that contributed the
most in the decision making process: “Kristen embodies the
modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique
sensibility and intelligence.”
“From her early appearance in ‘Panic Room’ to her independent
choice of ‘Welcome to the Rileys,’ I’ve always sensed her
progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a
project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I’ve always wished to
collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical
spirit of Balenciaga.”
Isabelle Guichot, chief executive officer of Balenciaga shares the
views of the creative director and reminds us that the star is the
second face for the brand's fragrance department: “Kristen is the
perfect choice as she embodies Nicolas Ghesquière’s unique vision
for the second chapter in our fragrance history.”
The immense potential of the agreement is also recognized by
Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American fragrances for
Coty Prestige, a division of Coty Inc.: “Kristen stood out as an
evident choice for this new fragrance. She has a unique sense of
style, quite original and chic in the way she mixes fashion
elements. Her elegant modernity and innate rebel style perfectly
match with the spirit of Balenciaga.” Unfortunately however,
all the details regarding the fragrance revolve around the period
in which will be launched, the fall 2012 season.
