You are intelligent, funny and have a great personality, but do you still need help putting together an outfit from the newest fashion trends? Here are some tips to pull together your look.
We all have a personal style, that style that makes us unique and individual. For some it can take time to recognize their style and for those of us in this category, we don’t want to spend our hard earned money on the latest trends that just aren’t working for us.
If you stick to a few rules, putting a great outfit together will be easy. The two most important rules are balance and “less is more”.
The first thing you need to do is find that one “wow” piece and build your look around that piece. It may be a favourite piece of jewelry that has a “wow” factor. The best way to build a look around a piece of jewelry is to make it stand out, this means, keep your outfit simple, but with a touch of class. A simple black dress can do wonders to show off a piece of jewelry.
If you have a pair of jeans with an embroidered pattern, a top of a solid color and a pair of shoes with heels will complement the jeans beautifully. The focus here is the jeans, so keep the other elements of your outfit simple.
Do you own a pair of brightly colored pumps and don’t know how to wear them? Dark denim or black jeans will set the pumps off beautifully. Your top does not necessarily have to be the same color as your pumps, experiment a little and you may find something unexpected that highlights your unique style.
There are some of us out there who can’t go past shiny things and especially unique items such as gold sequin flats. Three quarter pants and a simple top will help to draw attention to your shoes, but also complement them well. Flats are also practical and when worn with the right outfit can be a very dressy option.
The key is to choose one piece and build around it making it the centre piece of your outfit, whether it be glamorous one day or urban the next, take the time to try different options, even ones you would never consider, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Take the time to learn about different styles and how they’ve been put together. You can draw inspiration from books and magazines to pull together unique looks and find your true style.
Style is about confidence. If you feel great in an outfit, others will notice. And if you don’t feel confident, instead of faking it, find your true style and you will never have to fake it. Whether you are 18 or 80, take pride in your appearance and be comfortable in your style.
