I am not completely sure what a "blog" entitles, so i officially decide (as of just now) that it is the space to ramble on about farely useless, yet amusing (i hope) facts/thoughts/stories etc. Please enjoy my first edition of 'The Random Wonderings In My Mind' entitled 'The Hardcore Facts of Stereotyping'.
Now most of you on this site are American in some way or another and this seems to be the way of almost every internet site around e.g YouTube. Not that this is a problem, but, i have not failed to notice the lack of Australian influences on the web. The very few, however, there are, seem to portray us poor Australian's in a truely horrid way. You see, many of you may already think of us as 'bogans' if none of you understand this term that is rather common here, it means (according to the google dictionary) Australian/New Zealand slang (a lower class form of language). But to me and many other young people here, a bogan is a grotty loser who has no sense of fashion, decoram or hygiene for that matter.
To some extent i would completely agree with this as most Australians are this way, but there is a growing number of civilised beings that occupy this land, myself being one of them. I would never want to sound conceited so i shall explain this truely legitimant fact.
My mother is German making me half european, thank-goodness, so i apparently have a rather posh way of speaking, 'posh' might i add in Oz simply means speaking with accurate grammar, not necessarily something that would win me an academic award.
But the whole purpose of this article is to alert you all or rather beg you to not write us off just quite yet, or me more importantly. For those of you who still think that we ride to school on Kangaroos....please....buy a book on culture for goodness sake, or have you been asking us all these empty minded questions just to be funny? If none of you, however, have ever thought of Australians this way please by all means ignore what i have said.
:) thank you for reading and please comment with feedback to tell me if you want more blogs like these.
