Everything You Need To Know About Hair Salon Services

Popular hairstyles are constantly changing. Each decade brings with it a particular set of hairstyles that most people want some version of at least for a time. Each style is a particular length and color, is either straight or curly, and has a defining aspect that sets it apart from all the rest. Each decade is known for something specific when it comes to hairstyles. For example, the 1980's is still known for the brushed out curly styles. The 2010's are known for intense colors and asymmetrical cuts. Not only are there different hairstyles in different decades, but there are also different styles in different parts of the world. Each style is best suited to specific face shapes, each color is best with specific skin tones. If you are trying to decide on a hairstyle, you need to know what all services your hair salon offers so you can ensure that you can get the exact style that you want. Not all salons are the same nor do they all offer the same services. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about the different hair salon services and choosing a great hairstyle.

It is important to note that there are two types of salons, the first is a full-service salon that offers waxing, manicures, pedicures, and all services. The second is a strict hair salon in which you can get haircuts, coloring, and styling, but nothing else. Every person has a preference as to which type they prefer, which is why both types are incredibly popular. We will be discussing both versions here. There is a third type that is often overlooked, the school-centric salon. This is small salon areas where students provide services for free or very cheap for the sole purpose of real-life experience and practice. We will also be touching on this version of a salon during the course of this list.

First, the one service that is offered by all salons is a haircut. Some people only want a trim, which generally only entails trimming off the dead ends and nothing else. Other people are looking for a more drastic change. This potentially includes many different aspects including losing a great deal of length, shaving part or all of the head, adding layers, adding bangs, and completely changing the shape of the cut. Different cuts flatter different face shapes, but sometimes it is difficult to determine how a particular cut will look until you try it. Sometimes an experienced stylist will be able to give you advice and tips on the type of cuts and styles that would look best on you, but this is not always possible. If you are unsure about the cut you are interested in, it never hurts to ask your stylist for their advice and opinion.

Next, another common service that is offered by all salons, coloring. Dying your hair a color other than the one you were born with has been popular for many years, but it is only recently that people have started dying their hair a wider range of colors. Where once you could only get the basic hair colors, black, blond, red, and brunette, you can now get any color of the rainbow. Every shade of purple, blue, green, pink, any color you can imagine. Once many people frowned upon their hair turning gray, but now there are those that pay to have their hair dyed gray and sometimes even white. Highlights within whatever you want as a base color has always been encouraged to provide a more natural look. Beyond natural highlights, it is now increasingly popular to pair all manner of colors together. Some even choose to make their hair look like a rainbow or a sunset. There are mermaid colors and dessert related colors among so many other choices. Now, the possibilities are truly endless with the right stylist.

The next service up for discussion is styling. This is when you are not getting your hair cut or colored, only styled in a certain way. The most popular occasions to utilize this service is weddings, prom, and other special events. There are many common styles, but most are what is referred to as an updo. An updo is simply when the hair is pinned up in some way rather than left hanging down around the face and shoulders. It is important to remember that many of these styles do include at least a chunk of hair being left loose, but the majority is always pinned back. Sometimes the hair is curled and bunched together, other times at least part of the hair is braided in some intricate fashion.

Full-service salons offer many services that are not offered at any other type of salon. The most popular among these extra services are manicures. If you are unfamiliar with the term it means the act of having one's fingernails trimmed, cleaned, and polished. Many times, the polish is not a simple single color that can be done at home. Instead, many manicurists provide beautiful and intricate designs directly on each nail. It is often regarded as a work of art as the manicurist is literally painting pictures on fingernails. Waxing is also quite popular. There are several levels of waxing services. The first level is facial only which includes eyebrows and upper lip. Many "regular" salons offer this level of waxing. The second level includes other body parts such as the back, chest, and legs. The third level is only offered at some full-service salons and includes the genital region.

Once you have decided what you want to have done at the salon, you need to find the appropriate salon to go to in your area. The best way to do this is via the internet. Pull up any available browser and use basic search phrases to find exactly what you are looking for. If you are looking for a salon in a specific area, be sure to include the name of the area in your search. You should also use words such as "best" as well as words pertaining to the type of salon you need. If it doesn't matter, stick to the word "salon"; however, if you are looking for students or a   salon, include that in your search. An example of a good search term is "Best Montreal Hair Salon". If your first search does not give you the result you need or want, alter you search one word at a time until you get the results you need.
