I’m a big advocate of autumn. It’s strange as most people I
know tend to gravitate towards summer, but for me it’s always A/W where I feel
happiest and most motivated. I also love autumn fashion, homeware and food!
Snuggling up in a chunky blanket with a good book in front of an open fire is
my idea of heaven, so I always tend to go a bit crazy when it comes to homeware
around this time of year.
A house definitely feels more like a home in these colder
months, and I love making my home cosy and comfortable. Here are my top five
interior essentials for autumn!
Wreaths aren’t exclusive to Christmas time, I love an
autumnal wreath full of rich oranges and reds. They look super cute sitting on
a fireplace and can add a feeling of warmth. Head to your local florist as they’re
bound to make you something you love! Or you could always source a faux wreath
if you want to be able to reuse it.
My living room is overflowing with blankets, you can never
have too many! I even have a blanket basket, they’re an essential. You might
even find your heating bill goes down with a few giant blankets to snuggle up
in. For a great selection of faux fur and knitted throws, head to online
interiors boutique Homeward
Bound Interiors they have a gorgeous collection of homewares and are one of
Scented candles are a must-have for this time of the year! I
always buy a few different candles in my favourite scents which usually
consists of cinnamon, ginger and star anise. I love filling the house with the
gorgeous smells of autumn! I also find having a few candles burning ultra-therapeutic
especially when winding down after a day’s work. This candle
from Skandinavisk will give you that hygge feeling!
I love an elegant set of fairy lights, I usually wrap them
around my stair bannister to create a cosy feel in the evenings without having
to use the harsh main light. I also love wrapping a few small lights around
decorative branches, it’s very autumnal and perfect for Christmas too!
Metal lanterns are a perfect home accessory for autumn time,
and look great in a group of two or three. I usually place a plain candle in
mine to light in the evenings to add to that lovely cosy feel. I always think
these look best in a living room or a conservatory to add some warmth! Buy a
larger style that will sit nicely on the floor, these are much more effective
than the small table top size.
Well it is autumn after all! Even if Halloween isn’t really
your thing you can still have great fun decorating pumpkins to proudly display
in your home. Pinterest has an amazing supply of inspiration and I particularly
love striped pumpkins or you could get really creative and make them into
minions! Each to their own…
Will you be adding any of these additions to your home this
autumn for a comfier, cosier interior?
