What's The Best Way To Get Rid Of Mold In A Basement

Mold is a not pleasant thing to see on walls. Every basement has mold. Moisture in a basement is always at higher levels and that is a perfect living environment for spores. Mold release spores in the air, and the reproduction begins. Because of spores we often see mold escaping from a basement to other parts of the house, sometimes even in a bedroom and that can be extremely dangerous.

In most cases, a mold is not a dangerous thing. After all, every basement has it. But some types of mold are toxic to all humans, and you can never know which kind of mold is on your walls. Because of that best practice is to fight the mold and remove it from your house and basement.

The first thing to do in the battle against mold is finding a source of moisture. When you locate the area that makes the whole basement wet, dry it and wipe the location genuinely with a rug. Make it clean, fresh and dry.

After that, you need to locate all the mold on the wall. Now the battle may begin. You will need to use unique mixtures for cleaning mold from the walls. You can do the mixtures by yourself at home with mixing a dash of vinegar with baking soda. You will get a chemical reaction that will clean the mold from a wall. Spray the mold with this mixture and let it rest for half hour after that take a rug and sweep it from the wall.

You can also buy chemicals for removing mold in a store. But these chemicals can sometimes be dangerous, it all depends on what kind of mixture you purchased. The process is same, spray the mold and wipe it with a rug.

Many people after these two steps stop and consider the room clean. That is the reason why mold comes back and often it comes bigger, meaner and stronger. Problem is with spores. Mold spores are not removed from the air, and after some time these spores become a mold and release new spores, and that makes the whole mold problem bigger than ever. Because of that one of the steps is to remove mold spores.

But how to remove mold spores that are not visible to a human eye? And the answer is simple. Buy an air purifier. The air purifier has powers to remove mold spores without any problems. Air purifier with HEPA filter will remove all the mold spores in a basement. With an air purifier, you will make sure that mold never comes back. And you don't need to be buying a super expensive air purifier, the cheapest one with HEPA filter for a basement will be enough.

After your battle against mold is done and you are victorious you need to make some precautions. You need to make sure that humidity levels in the basement don't go too high. To do that automatically and without too many hassles, you can buy a dehumidifier. With a dehumidifier, you are sure that levels of humidity are on a proper level. An environment that benefits mold will not be created, and you can have a sweet resting sleep. If the new investment in a dehumidifier is too expensive, then you can still make humidity levels low by opening windows and letting a cool, dry air inside. The only problem is that many basements don't have windows, so owners of that kind of basements need to get a dehumidifier to keep the moisture on a low level.

Dehumidifier and air purifier are two devices that will keep your basement free from mold. Maybe you will need to open your pocket for these two devices but trust me once you start using them you will see what I am talking about. The air in the basement will not be stinky, wet and hard to breathe. Air in the basement will become fresh, breathable and free from any harmful particles including mold spores. Just remember that the best basement air purifier is the one with HEPA filter.
