Guitar Center is the largest and most popular chain of musical instrument
store around the world that caters mostly to guitar enthusiasts. Its
headquarters is located in Westlake Village, California with branches
throughout the United States. Guitar Center boasts of its large collection of
guitar brands and accessories among other
, Guitar Center musical instruments.
Originally didn't sell guitars. The first store was located in Hollywood
and they used to be a retailer of electronic organs. They then became a major
retailer of Vox electric guitars and amplifiers made famous by The Beatles,
Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.
The popularity of rock and roll in 1970s pushed the sales of electric
guitars. That made its founder Wayne Mitchell open branches in San Francisco
and San Diego and other Los Angeles suburbs.
The proliferation of 80s New Wave didn't halt the sales of electric guitars
during that decade as rock musicians have found their inspiration in Van Halen.
Guitar Center took advantage of this boom in the rock music scene with a United
States expansion. Soon enough, Guitar Centers became as visible as McDonald's.
Such expansion also led to purchasing the mail order and Internet-based
retailer Musician's Friends in 1999.
To perform their corporate social responsibility, guitar center cedar
rapids. founded a non-profit organization that supports music education of any
instrument with the launch of The Guitar Center Music Foundation. The
foundation has helped both professional and amateur musicians who wish to get a
more formal music education.
Guitar Center also honors legendary musicians with RockWalk, found in Hollywood.
RockWalk is a Hall of Fame giving due credit to the most influential icons in
the music scene. Music artists are asked to place their hand print into cement.
The handprints are displayed at the Guitar Center. Some of the people on the
RockWalk are Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and his Comets, Black Sabbath, Judas
Priest and Iron Maiden.
