Uncommon Sources for Essay Inspiration

The initial stages of writing any essay are often the most difficult because finding a captivating topic to write about can be hard. Without inspiration, you could end up not writing anything for hours and becoming frustrated in the long run. Inspiration is an essential component of the writing process.

Since inspiration is important for writing creative and inspired essays, and sometimes you’re unable to find inspiration in conventional sources, you might end up finding inspiration in some of the most uncommon places. This is a common occurrence for any writer, whether experienced or amateur.

The following is a compilation of some of the most unlikely sources where you may find inspiration to write your essays:

At times, what you require is to just venture outside and get inspiration. A change of scenery is inevitable. Whenever you feel like nothing is flowing through your mind, just go outside and take a walk. When outdoors, make sure your mind is clear and admire everything you see. You may discover that when being around nature, your mind opens up and thinks more clearly about what you want to write in the essay. Heading out to nature might be a good source of motivation.

Brainstorm on Paper

Another valuable way of boosting your creativity is to simply stop putting any restrictions on yourself. Even though the writing process is mostly a well thought-out one, your means of finding inspiration does not have to be structured.

All you need to do is write down anything that comes to your mind. What you write down doesn’t have to be flawless. Some ideas may not even end up in the final essay. However, the brainstorming process is meant to jog your mind so that you end up with a captivating essay topic.

Read your Favorite Magazine or Book

While some people tend to go through various sample essays, a better alternative is to read any book or magazine that you enjoy. Nothing is more captivating than reading books written by your favorite author or an article published in a magazine of your liking or online.

These pieces of literature can be great sources of ideas that can be incorporated in your essay which may end up becoming a masterpiece.

Whenever you run short of ideas, all you need to do is talk to someone else who is as passionate as you are about writing. The exchange of ideas will boost your creativity.

Pay close attention to how they look at a specific subject matter and try to view it from a different angle. This will do well in helping you come up with great ideas.

Love What You Do

It has always been said that people enjoy what they are good at, and are good at what they enjoy. If you’re not passionate about writing, you will not come up with something worthwhile. If you’re passionate about it, be confident in yourself as a writer. Confidence will help you find inspiration in the most unlikely of places.

Trying Something New

They say experience is the best teacher. Most writers tend to rely on what they know when coming up with new pieces of work. However, there’s no harm in trying something new. Trying something different will give you a new experience.

Go Back to the Beginning

Go back to the very beginning when you started writing. Most of your earliest memories are filled with the rawest emotions. By channeling these emotions, you’ll be able to come up with magnificent essays. The greatest essays usually get positive reviews because writers make readers think. This thinking is a result of the essay's ability to impact the readers' lives.

Children think differently. Even though as adults we can’t go back in time to when we were children, we can still experience that feeling by spending time with children and observing them.

You might acquire some inspiration from them, from the way they interact with other children, adults, and also objects. Most of your childhood memories might flood back, acting as a source of inspiration for you.

More often than not, we listen to music just for the sake of it while we go about our business. We rarely take the time to concentrate on the finer details of the songs. Music is one of the most valuable sources of inspiration. For example, whenever we listen to a song from back in the day, the memories linked to that song usually flood back. It is as if it happened just the other day.

Listen to different types of music. Each song offers something different. Films often utilize songs throughout different scenes to stir up feelings. As a writer, you can use music to inspire you to write an excellent essay.

The above are some of the uncommon sources that you can turn to so that you can be inspired to write. Are there any other unlikely essay inspiration sources that you can think of that aren’t included here?
