Unlocking Children's Nurturing Side With Doll Houses

One of the gifts for young girls that will never get old is doll houses. It is not only an enjoyable game, but also serves many essential functions. For instance, it introduces the child to imaginative play. She is free to let her imagination run wild as she takes care of the dolls.

Although we adults discount pretend play as childish and immature, it actually has various benefits. Taking care of a doll house teaches responsibility, for starters. Often, children treat it like a real house to make the game more fun, and also because taking up such a responsibility makes them feel closer to adults. Taking care of their dolls can be a precursor to more important forms of responsibility such as caring for a younger sibling or, later, a friend.

Taking doll houses 'too seriously', as some parents fear, need not necessarily be a bad thing. Children are bound to outgrow it, along with fully developing their creativity and being able to get engrossed into any task. Often, adults cannot just let themselves get lost in a task. Hence, developing this ability as children is vital.

Children also learn various social skills as they talk to dolls. They do not shy away from exploring different social situations and from saying whatever comes to their mind. They get a chance to discover themselves better and becoming comfortable in their own skin.

Playing with a doll house can also have a positive effect on their reality. It makes them more organised. They begin to keep their room tidier. It unlocks their empathy as they learn to care for others the same way they do for their dolls. As far as creativity goes, they can explore with designing their doll house, dressing up the dolls etc. which can later develop into skills such as interior designing and fashion designing.

Doll houses are a great way for your children to discover themselves and their nurturing side.
