5 Ways to Increase The Length Of Your Life

As humans, we hunt down new and improved ways to enhance our quality of life every day. Many people turn to month-long exercise challenges and dieting to get healthy, feel better, and live longer. Regardless of which methods you decide to use, there is no guarantee that anyone can live longer. You can only boost your chances of it.

Aside from diet and exercise, check out a few other unique and interesting ways you can increase your chances of living longer.

1. Train the brain as well as the body. It is the most important organ us humans possess. By completing simple games and puzzles, you are also warding off diseases, such as Alzheimer's. Word searches, card games, and even riddles can improve your memorization skills.

2. Think happy thoughts. Studies have suggested that those who feel content with their life, have a tendency to live longer. Of course, there are other aspects to consider, such as illness, poor decision making, and age. However, the happier you are in your age, illness and lifestyle aside, you're more likely to care for your body than you would if you felt no joy at all.

3. Treat your body the way you want it to treat you. How you take care of yourself when you're young will affect the way it functions in old age. Make fitness and nutrition a permanent lifestyle change. If you see it as just a diet, or an exercise challenge, you're more likely to go back to unhealthy eating habits, and will discontinue your regimen. By making it a daily habit, you're boosting your lifespan.

4. Drink coffee. Yes, you heard me. Coffee has been proven in European studies, which you can find on CNN, to prolong one's lifespan. However, everything should always be in moderation.

5. You snooze, you don't lose. Snoozing, in this case, isn't just beneficial to your health. It also helps to retain information, restore the memory, and to rejuvenate the body. Without the ability to do these things, our bodies would begin to fail miserably. As a result, lack of sleeping will eventually work against you.

So, why are these things not as important as fitness and nutrition alone? When we heard the words, "live longer," we automatically think about vegetables and jumping jacks.
