Is Plastic Surgery an Option For a Better Quality Of Life?

Is
Plastic Surgery an Option For a Better Quality Of Life?

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
presented a study at the 30th anniversary meet which showed that
people who opt for plastic surgery
enjoy an enhanced quality of life, a more positive approach to life and a
better self-perception.

A
plastic surgery can help you feel more positive

In 1997, Dr. Gregory Borah presented his study looking into
the effects of cosmetic surgery. His study showed that plastic surgery enhances
the psychological perspective of patients by modifying their body structure. As
per the study, it certainly proved beyond a shadow of doubt that the quality of
life of those who underwent plastic surgery of the breast or body including patients who received facial
surgery
 certainly got enhanced. There were
105 patients considered for this study varying in age from 18 to 70 and most
saw a positive change like a better life quality after the surgery.

At the same time, experts also warn that some patients
might be shocked with dramatic
changes
owing to plastic surgery. Buzzfeed.com posted a recent study where
patients have suffered identity issues following major changes after plastic
surgery. Heidi Montag is one such example who is believed to have body
dysmorphic disorder which is a psychological condition. Due to certain cases
like these, surgeons now are careful to screen their patients before the
surgery to ensure they are not looking to become a different person or to attain
a perfect image.

Sociologists and therapists suggest that you undergo
plastic surgery procedures over time, especially if the end result will be
drastic, it is best to spread them over a few years. Since your identity is
developed at adolescence, any major changes will be a source of shock to
patients.
