Tips to handle swelling in leg Tattoos

Getting inked is the latest fashion trend these days. So you see all people who have even a little bit of adventure streak in them opting for unique designs for their tattoos. While initially this fad was limited to just the upper visible portions of the body the focus has now shifted to getting them on feet too. However many users complain of getting swelling after the same is done. Here are some tips to handle this problem and get your leg tattoo look as great as ever.

It is perfectly normal to get a swelling in your feet after getting it inked. Our body uses defense mechanisms to deal with situations like these and this is just one of them. Don’t panic and wait for the swelling to subside.

Swelling occurs when water accumulates at a particular position. If you are also facing the problem keep your feet as much elevated as you can. This will make the water move to a downward location and hence eliminate swelling.

Apart from keeping your foot at an elevation, an ice pack is also recommended. Keeping it in the place of the swelling for 15-20 minutes will in all probability ease your swelling. However, if you have got a fancy design like fishing tattoos on the leg then be careful that it does not get spoilt because of the water.

Avoid wearing any tight clothing near the area of the tattoo and the swelling. Especially tight socks should not be worn as they may aggravate your situation further.

The crux to get any infection go away quickly is to ensure that utmost attention is paid to the cleanliness of the area. Regular wiping will take care that any other infections are kept at bay and this one also goes away soon.

If the pain and discomfort do not subside it is suggested that you take some OTC painkiller to reduce the same. Consult a pharmacist as he would be able to guide you better about which medicine to choose.

Drinking plenty of water during this time also helps in keeping the circulation of the liquid moving. If it is not much tough a little bit of roaming around did no one any harm. However, make sure to elevate your feet after doing that.

Whenever opting for a leg tattoo always go for one foot at a time .This would give your feet time to recover and the other one would be there to handle your walking. After a tattoo, it normally takes 2 weeks to 3 months to properly recover and the above tips would ensure that your leg tattoo swelling heals without causing much discomfort.
