which flat iron should i buy?

Before going ahead to purchase a flat iron from any worldwide brand, there are some factors should be considered. The greatest factor of them all is the user's hair type and texture. This factor slightly narrows down the choices of the type of flat iron a user wishes to buy. Choosing a flat iron should not be a stressful process and I'm going to show you the procedure that will ensure a willing buyer gets more out of the type of flat iron he/she will choose to buy.

In the current market, there is generally no 'best' brand of flat iron. Everyone will find the type of flat iron that suits their hair texture best for them. Some of these questions have been posted on feedback columns in manufacturers' websites. For instance, most customers tend to inquire the latest flat iron in the market. What such customers don't have in mind is whether the flat iron they intend to buy is the best one for their hair.

If you are unsure of the type of flat iron you need to get yourself then here are some key questions that will help in narrowing down the choices.

WHICH IS YOUR PREFFERED PLATE SIZE?

The length and work for your hair will determine which size of plate you should go for. For those who'd wish to do large amounts of hair in one pass should consider selecting irons with bigger plate widths. Type of hair also determines the type of plate size one should go for.

SETTINGS FOR TEMPERATURE: FIXED OR VARIABLE.

Some types of hair do not require a lot of heat. In such cases, it is important to go for a flat iron that has variable temperature settings. Ones with fixed temperature settings work best for users whose hair are not affected by adverse temperature. It is advisable to go for irons with variable temperature settings so you can have control over it.

DO YOU HAVE HAIR THAT IS HARD TO STRAIGHTEN?

In cases where a user has thick hair that is hard to straighten then, it is advisable to go for irons with fixed temperature settings. This types of iron have proven to work for customers experiencing such problems.

DO YOU HAVE HAIR THAT HAS PART OF EVERY CHARACTERISTIC MENTIONED ABOVE?

If your answer is yes then either of the above choices will suit you. However, it is still advisable you go for the one with variable settings because of its ability to be controlled.

WHICH IS YOUR PREFFERED TECHNOLOGY?

Though most flat irons on the market might seem to have a similar straightening technology, there are minor differences in all brands. Considering technology, the best type of flat iron is the one that suits your styling needs.

CERAMIC OR IONIC

Most professional grade flat irons are either ionic or ceramic. This type of technology helps in smoothing hair cuticles by generating negative ions. Users should not that there is no iron plate that is 100% pure ceramic. If you are wonder why then here is the reason: pure ceramic plates are too soft to straighten hair. For that matter, it is put with much stronger surfaces such as titanium.

ALUMINIUM.

Irons that use pure aluminium are considered low quality. Their lack of ceramic poses a huge difference between them and the pricier flat irons.

Not only aluminium is added with ceramic for a better result. Here are other alternative materials:

- Tourmaline

- Nano-Titanium

- Nano-Silver

NANO

This process involves micronizing materials and infusing them into plate surfaces. The superfine micronized materials should be purely smoothening materials.

CERAMIC AND NANO-CERAMIC

Any ceramic material is loved because of their ability to make hair silky. Irons with ceramic plates have a variety of price points. Users have admitted that pricier ceramic irons have proven to be better. If you are looking forward to owning a ceramic iron then go for ones with additional features.

NANO-TITANIUM

This type of material is loved because of the following features:

- Is a great heat conductor

- Is a good smoothing surface

- Straightens hair faster than other materials

This type of material works best for people with tough and thick hair.

NANO-SILVER

This type of material is loved because of its ability to eliminate bacteria on the appliance when in use. It is also a good straightener though not as effective as Nano-platinum.

NANO-TOURMALINE

This type of material is known for its properties of generating negative ions and smoothing hair. This type of technology came before Nano-silver and Nano-platinum.

PRODUCT WARRANTY

It is important to note that it is expensive to buy flat iron in a salon than online though most manufacturers will only honour a warranty when you buy from a salon. Whether you decide to do a purchase in a store or online, it is advisable to look for an iron that has a one year warranty or longer.

Taking time to ask yourself these simple questions will result in you owning the best flat iron for your hair.
