How to Work Out While Using the Computer

Using the computer it’s possible to accomplish all
kinds of things in terms of productivity and communication. You have a wealth
of things to read or to play, and you can access pretty much any information
you might reasonably need.

All this makes it pretty tempting to spend a lot of
your time on the computer, and you might even consider not coming off of it
very often. That’s all good and well, but the problem is that it’s not very
healthy and would leave you rather inactive and quickly gaining weight.

But imagine if you could use the computer and burn calories. If you could answer e-mails
while building muscle, or play computer games while toning up. There are
actually a few ways this is possible, so read on and start turning those bursts
of productivity into bursts of training as well.

Typing While Riding- If
you want to burn calories and tone muscle in your lower half, then one of the
easiest ways to do both while using the computer is to ride a bike while you
work. The handy thing is that you ride a bike while sitting down anyway, so if
you can erect a stationary bike with a platform to rest on you can actually
type at the same time as cycling. In fact if you want to go one step further,
you can even get computer-desk set-ups that use kinetic energy – getting you to
charge your computer through your pedaling and thus giving you a compelling
incentive to keep going.

Typing While Standing- Typing
while riding a bike might be a little ambitious for some people, so if you’re
not feeling quite up to that then you could instead try typing while standing
up at the computer. This won’t require too much energy, but it will actually
help you to burn calories and at the same time increase your metabolic rate so
that you burn more energy even when you aren’t riding.

Dictation- If you want to build muscle however then you will
for the most part need your hands free for lifting weights. Thus the only real
method for outputting large amounts of work is to start using dictation
software allowing you to command your computer while at the same time curling
weights. These days Windows comes with rather effective dictation software
built in, which even allows you to search the web and launch apps.

Motion Sensors-
The above examples all present ways to interact with the computer while working
on your figure at the same time. Better though is to use the computer in such a
way that it innately burns calories. How is that possible? Through motion
control. Using Wii-remotes or the Leap Motion controller to operate a computer
means you can navigate the UI by waving your arms around thus toning and fat
burning at the same time. Play a computer game with the Wii or Kinect meanwhile
and you’ll be swinging your arms like crazy to hit balls across the screen and
fight opponents – and that will help you to get into great shape.
