YOLO - Taking it to far?

We've all heard the phrase YOLO- you only live once..

But now some people...ALOT of people are taking it too literally. Where I think YOLO should mean, to go pursue something understandable that you have always wanted, others think they should just do whatever they want.

I find this in mostly teens. I see it in the news, I see it around me at school, and I see it on the internet. Kids who will do stupid, dangerous things because YOLO. What people do the most because of yolo, is the following.

-get drunk

-go partying

-have sex

-do something illegal

-smoke cigarettes, and weed, or maybe even more harsh things

-spend an absurd amount of money on something they didn't really need.

-Do something that risks their lives. Such as skydiving. Yes I know what you are thiking. 'So? It's just skydiving, it's fun.' Well there have been numerous incidences where people have been killed, or seriously injured. I don't think it's worth it.

-Stay up all night, not study, and screw school.

-Disobey parents.

This is what is resulting out of YOLO. Kids will do stupid things, and use the phrase YOLO as an excuse.

I think YOLO should be used to go up to that guy/girl you've never had the guts to go up to before, or do something fun with your style, or pursue a hobby, such as art, singing, dancing etc...

What do you guys think?

I totally agree! I am sick and tired of it being used too literally. YOLO so you should go after your dreams no matter what, but if your dreams destroy someone else's life you should reconsider that dream. I'm so glad someone posted about this!
