Riva and Kora were inseparable,

To love, to laugh, to live they were able.

Together, they made a good team,

Riva and Kora were friends forever, or so it did seem.

When Riva lost her first tooth from falling off her bike,

You bet Kora was there comforting her friend, the younger tyke.

When Kora gained and lost all her boyfriends,

Riva reminded her, “He’s a bad chapter, and this is just where that part of the story ends.”

As the chapters in their lives were filled,

Some of their wishes were granted, and some dreams were killed.

But they had each other for everything, whether it was bad or good,

They were making it through, but years later, Kora no longer could.

The image was burned into Riva’s memory,

Kora, her friend, lay face down–a corpse-to-be.

Choking, gasping for air,

“Riva, I need help!” she did declare.

Riva scrambled to the ground and muttered to her friend,

“I’m here, baby. Don’t give up. It’d be too bitter of an end!”

Riva had Kora’s boyfriend put behind bars,

And tended to what he had left behind–memory of death and emotional scars.

Riva remembered this moment well,

She told the reporters every detail there was to tell,

Except that she was upset and needed Kora’s nurturing now,

“I’ll always be here. I’ll help and pick you up when needed,” Kora did vow.

And after Riva read Kora’s will over once more,

She realized that Kora was never going to be there as she had before.

But Riva really had no idea what she was thinking about,

Kora really was there in her heart, forever, without a doubt.

Riva continued to love, laugh, and live,

Though, when she spoke of this tragedy, she remained impassive,

Because Riva and Kora were the best of friends, and

This is where the story ends.
