In some instances, the treatment procedures themselves have spurred the development of other problems that necessitate other treatments. What many fail to understand is that healthy skin ( starts with meticulous skin care. Here are a few secrets to achieving a more youthful glow on your skin without having to resort to expensive treatments.

1.       Protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

The leading cause of skin problems is overexposure to the harmful rays of the sun. While we all know that UVB rays ( are responsible for the redness and pain that are often associated with sunburn, it is actually UVA rays that wreak havoc in the long term as these have been implicated in the slow yet progressive development of certain types of skin cancer. If you really want a healthier looking skin, quitting smoking should be included in your comprehensive skin care plan.

Contrary to what many believe, taking long hot baths or showers can be detrimental to your skin’s health as natural oils are removed. These oils serve a purpose in the skin. If these are removed, you lose some of the structural integrity of your skin. Avoiding the use of strong soaps and shaving very carefully can help maintain skin integrity. It is also a lot better to pat your skin dry after taking a bath rather than rubbing it vigorously with your towel. Applying a moisturizer can also help especially if you have dry skin.

4.       Healthy diet is healthy skin.

Include foods that are rich in ascorbic acid or Vitamin C as these can help promote younger looking and healthier skin. Additionally, avoiding foods that contain trans-fats and refined carbohydrates as well as processed foods can also help promote healthier skin.

5.       Manage your stress.

You may not believe it but stress can play a role in the occurrence of acnes and other problems of the skin. It is often wise to manage your stresses to achieve a more youthful skin (

Effective skin care need not be expensive. By leading a healthier lifestyle, you can ensure a healthier skin.
