The difference between Kybella and chin liposuction

The difference between Kybella and chin liposuction

As Kybella becomes popular as the latest FDA approved technique for chin fat procedure in a non-invasive manner, many people are lining up to get this life changing injection. However, many old schoolers still want to know what is the difference between chin liposuction and Kybella.

Downtime

The best thing about using Kybella is that it does not require any surgery and the treatment involves a number of injections. There is no downtime, no leaking wounds or anesthesia. You will need to get injections at least six times with a month’s interval. The injection can cause hardness, bruising, swelling and redness.

Chin liposuction takes place once but it requires at least two weeks to recover; and you have to visit your doctor at least five times for post-operative care. The results of the two processes are achieved at the same time

Cost

The average cost for a chin liposuction is $2,500 but the cost will be increased with the compression garments and medications. Kybella cost is believed to be about $650 for around 50 injections. If you need to get a few injections, the cost of chin lipo may be the same as Kybella cost.

Risk

Lipo has many risks like hard lumps, infection, uneven fat removal and necrotic tissue. Kybella risks may take place because of improper administration of the injection that may lead to tissue damage on the outside of the treatment areas like bone, fascia, muscle and thin skin but other risks are the same as that of liposuction. The easiest way to reduce risks is to choose a qualified surgeon for any procedure you want to undergo.

Treatment area Kybella deals only with removing fat cells away from the chin. When the skin in the area sags, there will be no way to fix it and a surgical intervention will be required. A chin lipo is a surgical procedure which will also tighten the loose skin.

You should contact a cosmetic surgeon before deciding to get any of the procedures.  Even if many people may go for injections and not the surgery, it is not the right choice for every patient who wants to get rid of chin fat.
