Difference between partial and complete Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty or a tummy tuck in Houston TX is a type of cosmetic surgery procedure which is used to make the abdomen thinner or firmer. The surgery involves removal of fat and excess skin from the lower abdomen and middle of the abdomen to help in tightening the fascia and the muscle of the abdomen wall. Such type of surgery is normally sought out by those patients who have sagging or loose tissue after major weight loss or pregnancy.
Abdominoplasty procedure is put into different categories and it depends on the extent of the surgery. Complete abdominoplasty may take 1 to 5 hours. Partial abdominoplasty also called a mini-tuck abdominoplasty may be completed within one to two hours.
For a complete abdominoplasty, the incision is made starting from one hip to another over the pubic area. The second incision is used to free the navel from its surrounding skin. Theskin is then detached from the abdominal wall in order to reveal the muscle while the fascia will be tightened. Muscle fascia wall gets tightened by the use of sutures. Liposuction is used to refine the transition zones of the abdominal sculpture. A dressing with a compression garment is applied while excess fluid at the site gets drained.
With a partial tummy tuck, also called a mini abdominoplasty, a smaller incision is made. Fat and skin of the lower abdomen are detached using limited fashion on the muscle fascia. The skin will then be stretched down while excess skin will be removed. The belly button sometimes may be divided from the muscle found below it and it can slide down on the abdominal wall. Sometimes a portion of the abdominal muscle wall may be tightened. Liposuction will then be used for contouring the transition zone. The flap isthen stitched back in place.
An extended abdominoplasty is a combination of abdominoplasty with a lateral thigh lift. A scar is made from the posterior axillary line. The surgery is used to achieve all abdominal contouring gotten from a complete abdominoplasty and it allows improvement of the flank or waist while at the same time it smoothes the contours of the upper lateral thigh.
