Are There Any Risks Of Underwire Bras After My Breast Augmentation?
Congratulations, you have undergone your breast augmentation successfully! I am sure you just can’t hold yourself back from buying all that sexy lingerie you have been eyeing for months, possibly even years. Before you run out the door to pick up that super underwire bra at Victoria's Secret; slow down a bit.
Wondering why must you stop yourself now that you have the perfect breasts? Here are some reasons why:
During breast augmentation, the tissue around your implants has gone through severe trauma and you may even be numb on the bottom portion of your breasts. Underwire bras can irritate your skin and you may not even notice it due to the numbness.
The underwire could also inflame the incisions. It can cause friction that could be painful and may prolong the healing of your incision. You wouldn’t want to be left with ugly scars.
Some surgeons believe that underwire bras worn too soon after your augmentation surgery can even alter the shape of your breasts meaning you may not see your desired results.
You must allow for complete healing before you begin wearing underwire bras again. Depending on your plastic surgeon, this period may vary from 2 to 4 months before you can consider getting into them. It is advisable to get in touch with your surgeon for a clearance to return to exercising or wearing underwire bras.
You will have several post surgery appointments with your surgeon to make sure everything is in order with your breast implants and healing process. These visits will involve removing your stitches in case they were not dissolvable, monitoring your recovery, making sure there is no swelling and any other minor associated complications. This makes it very important that you keep your appointments. At one of these visits, make sure you ask your surgeon if it is time that you start wearing underwire bras again.
