Congratulations! You’ve got a first date coming up, and you
can’t quite believe that you have managed it – I mean, you’ve liked that person
for ages, haven’t you? It is always daunting when you are starting to plan for
a first date with someone that really means a lot to you (or you want them to
mean a lot to you!), and that can often mean that you start to panic a little
bit. Don’t worry, no matter who you are, who you’re about to date, how old you
are, where you are from, or where you are going on this date, there are some
things that absolutely all of us should check off this list before we go on
that date. Have you been thorough and checked them all? Let us know in the
You’ve freshened up
Strange as it may seem, you would be amazed at how many
people do not think to freshen up for their date, especially if they have just
come from work – or worse, the gym! A quick shower and dash of deodorant never
did anyone any harm, and it will definitely help you out on your date. Perfume
or cologne is a nice touch too, just remember: half the amount you think is
You’re comfortable in your clothes
This doesn’t mean going in your dressing gown and slippers,
but more making sure that you do not feel uncomfortable in what you’re wearing.
There’s nothing worse than going on a date with someone who keeps shuffling in
their seat, and your date may think that you are bored of them. Wear something
you’ve worn before so you know the fit after a meal, and you’ll be sorted.
You’re going to a safe location
Safety first kids! When you are meeting a complete stranger,
if that is what you’re doing, then it’s important to meet in a neutral setting
where you feel safe, where there are other people that can help you if things go
wrong. That’s how you keep safe, and your date shouldn’t mind that. If
anything, they may suggest a place that fits this description anyway, because
they want you to feel secure.
You’ve got your teeth sorted
It’s the little things! If you wear temporary dentures, now
is the time to talk to a dentist like Dr Paige Woods and get
permanent dentures: they’ll hurt less, make talking and chewing easier, and
look absolutely perfectly like normal teeth. Definitely worth it for the date,
and you’ll reap the benefits for every single day after that too.
You have an escape plan
Even if they are the nicest person in the world, sometimes
it just isn’t meant to be. Make sure that you have a plan with a friend so that
they can ring you and get you out of there if the date just isn’t working, so
that you don’t have to spend all night with them! There’s always another first
