How to get smooth and silky hair

Most hair stylists recommend getting your hair ideally trimmed roughly every 5 or 6 weeks though realistically its more likely to be 8 to 10 weeks instead as a haircut isn't cheap! A regular trim will help get rid of and prevent split ends, but don't worry, as its only the dried out deadish ends which needs cutting not loads and loads of your hair. If your trying to grow your hair out then its actually better to get it trimmed regulary as the healthier your hair is then the more chance it will have growing quicker (see one of my blogs - How to make your hair naturally grow quicker for more help on that) but just mention to your hairdresser that you only want whats neccessary cut off and not any more thanks.

Getting a good shampoo is very important to increase the amount of shine in your hair and also the way your hair feels. The detergents in most shampoos strip your hair of moisture and also of colour, to stop it from being greasy. However though, there are shampoos which manage to do that without stripping your hair, which are called Sodium Lauryl Sulphate free shampoo. SLS can contribute to your hair being tangled after washing it which makes you tugg you hair harder which makes it less soft and then after it has dryed and stuff the sls in it has taken away the shine too. So basically, don't buy shampoos with SLS in them.

Use a conditioner every time you wash your hair to moisturise it without it getting greasy. So that it doesn't get greasy from your conditioner, make sure you are using a conditioner which is right for your hair type, like if your hair is fine then use a light conditioner. Always put your conditioner at the ends of your hair so that you get a lovely silky shiny mass of locks and not just a slightly greasy scalp.

Here are some things to remember:

- Never use a brush on wet hair always use a comb.

- Try to only straighten, blowdry or curl your hair a few times a week instead of every day.

Hope I helped x

You shouldn't put conditioner at your tips, that is bad for your hair. Put it on your scalp and the nape of your neck and on your head, and rinse it to where it gets all of your hair. Directly applying it to your tips (unless it's deep conditioning) makes it thinner.

Conditioner should not be applied on the scalp if you have oily hair. It weight downs your hair and make it look greasy.

What I meant is that you do not apply too much of the conditioner to your scalp as this does make it greasy so you put most of it on your actual hair. Thank you for the advice though x
