A Few of the Hottest Jobs in IT through 2020

You may know that you want to work in IT, but how do
you know which specific job you want? Knowing that determines what kind of
education you pursue and which types of jobs and internships you go after
during and after college. If you haven’t settled on a particular IT job title
that you want yet, take a look at these top jobs that DevelopIntelligence
says will be among the hottest in the industry through 2020.

1.) Mobile Application Developer

Mobile app developers will grow 32 percent through
2020 from 2010, and 292,000 new jobs will be added in that decade, too. The
average salary is $95,000. This job is number one because it is one of the
fastest growing jobs. Smart phones and tablets are tools we use every day to
communicate, read the news, etc., so the demand for mobile apps is on the rise.
There are more mobile app development positions available than there are
skilled professionals. Learning Google’s Android and Apples’ iOS platforms will
help you have the best chance at a job.

2.) Database Administrator

At just one percent behind the growth of mobile
application developers, database administrator employment projections through
2020 look good. There are expected to be 33,900 new jobs with an average salary
of $82,000 per year. As businesses record more and more digital information,
they need DBAs to store, organize, keep safe, and analyze that information.
More database information is on the Internet and connected via cloud, which
means that the importance of data security is certainly on the rise. If you
have information security skills, you have a good chance of helping corporate
databases attain and maintain security from security threats, like hackers.

3.) Software Engineer

The average annual salary of a software engineer is
nothing to sneeze at at $90,000 per year. The growth volume is expected to
reflect the addition of 270,900 jobs to the economy. The position is expected
to grow at a rate of 30 percent through 2020. As technology advances and network
technologies increase, the demand for software engineers will also grow. As
corporations embrace cloud and virtualization strategies, there will be a rise
in  need for software engineers who can
create secure programs based online. Additionally, the increasing
sophistication and embracing of electric data-processing systems means that
there will be more systems software engineer jobs to execute and upgrade.

4.) Video Game Designers

Video game designer job growth is expected to be 30
percent, the same as that for software engineers. There are expected to be
270,900 new game designer job opportunities with an average salary of $80,000.
Video games constitute a $65 billion industry. It has increased 300 percent in
about the last decade. Mobile device video games are bringing new employment
opportunities, in addition to traditional console and PC game job openings. If
you have mobile software development skills, you’ll be sought after to create
mobile video games as more people play games on their smart phones and tablets.
You can also help create simulation programs, such as military flight
