6 Ways How to Take Care of Your Skin 

Skincare is a lifelong challenge all of us have to deal with, and the achievement of healthy, gorgeous skin is an undertaking none of us ever really get to accomplish. The changing conditions of our skin and the factors that affect it, even the very possible change of skin type from decade after decade can be problematic.

So, how do we deal with skincare?

The not so very obvious essential first step is to keep abreast with the science behind skincare.  Findings change, as well as technologies and recommended practices. The more science we know, the better chances we get at enjoying healthy skin that lasts.

Keep your skin clean and clear.

Bring a mist with you and spritz as you go.  Adding a humidifier indoors is also an ideal way to control moisture in the surrounding air.

Sunscreen is always of prime importance.  

In my opinion, you can cleanse your skin then forget about everything except your sunscreen.  That’s just to emphasize how important sun protection is.  After all, almost every acquired, non-biological skin disease and all signs of skin aging trace sun exposure as its root cause.  So, if you want to keep your youthful looking skin way beyond your 40s, daily sunscreen is a must.

Add another layer of sun protection by layering antioxidant with your sunscreen or, by choosing a sunscreen that already contains remarkable types and concentrations of beneficial antioxidants.  As an added benefit, antioxidants also help your skin fight off damage caused by free radicals so your skin cells stay healthy and intact.

Exfoliate regularly.  

Some people completely miss out on this step, failing to realize that they are losing out on one of the most inexpensive, commonsensical ways of achieving healthier, flawless skin in a short period of time.  Exfoliating becomes even more of a necessity as you age.  That’s because your skin’s natural turnover process slows down as you add up your age.  Exfoliation stimulates faster skin cell renewal so your skin is always new and looking young.

Exfoliation need only to be gentle, even when sloughing off skin is its primary objective.  Stay away from exfoliates and physical exfoliators that are too harsh.

Use only gentle, quality skincare products. 

Don’t pay for a product that will not bring any significant improvement to your skin.  In the same way, don’t spend a dollar on products that will only do you more harm than good.  Sadly, the market is flooded with more products that only end up irritating the skin.  The only way for you to avoid these, again, is by staying informed and vigilant about where you’re actually spending your hard earned dollar.

A good reference when it comes to checking on product safety is where the non-profit, Environmental Working Group, grades products according to the toxicity of its ingredients.

Get on a healthier lifestyle.  

You want your healthy skin to last?  Then, you have to make sustainable, lasting improvements to your eating habits, physical activities, psychological disposition, sleeping habits, and vices as well. It’s the best recommendation for taking care of normal skin, or any skin type for that matter.  Done regularly, you won’t only see the improvements but actually feel that something has changed for the better.
