Feel like going for a slight change in your usual look? You can easily reinvent yourself with a few revisions in the way you do your hair and makeup. A change in your skincare routine can also help you get going with a fresh start and create the perfect canvas for your new beauty looks. We’ve looked up some of the newest trends in the world of beauty and skin care, and, hopefully, you’ll find some inspiration in some of these tips and tricks.
Replace your harsh exfoliator for a gentler product
Popular treatments containing glycolic or salicylic acid can irritate even the most resilient skin types resulting in the dull and tired-looking skin. But luckily, skin care companies are recognizing the need for gentler skin care that will protect the integrity of any skin type. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science even found that natural mandelic acid and grape juice acid mixtures are a better alternative to harsher exfoliants. We recommend Dr.G Gowoonsesang Brightening Peeling Gel. The product contains only plant extracts to help peel off dead skin cells and speed up cell turnover.
Try switching to a BB or CC cream
BB and CC creams are here to stay and for good reasons also. First of all, they make makeup application easy and convenient. You get to save both on time and money as these creams are an all-in-one product that can replace your primer, foundation, and sunscreen, and they work as well as some of the best wrinkle creams. HarpersBaazar recommends the budget-friendly Covergirl Clean Matte BB for oily skin types or the high-end Giorgio Armani Luminessence for a dewy look which was quite popular this summer. Another great thing about BB and CC creams is that they offer lighter coverage than a foundation making for a more natural look which we’ve noticed are a hit on this year’s runway shows.
Go for red lips
Red lipstick can drastically alter any look. When applied with great precision, red lips give an air of classic beauty that can never go out of season. If you want to go for an everyday look, make sure to use minimum eye makeup to go with your red lips – preferably mascara and a light eye shadow. You can pair your red lipstick with smoky eyes for a night’s out, but be careful not to overdo it otherwise you’ll look tacky. If you’re more a fan of pink hues, go for a fuchsia pink lipstick from MAC’s latest Flamingo Park collection.
Experiment with glitter
Glitter is fun, and it can make your look more vibrant and youthful. In fact, glitter is one of the most popular trends this fall season according to HarpersBazaar. The renowned British makeup artists Pat Mcgrath combined the classic brown smoky eye with a pat of golden glitter on the last Tommy Hilfiger show. But you can also put the glitter on your brow bone, under your eyes or use it as a highlighter – the options are endless with glitter. However, you need to be cautious when using glitter on oily skin and make sure to use a matt foundation underneath.
Work on your brows
Bold brows are a thing now, and we can easily see why. Brows frame the face and accentuate the eyes. However, some of us are guilty of overdoing it with the tweezers and getting those bold brows back can be quite a challenge. While you can replicate the bold brow look with a bit of brow pencil and shadow, it’s best to get your natural brows to frame your face. If you’d like to try and regrow your brows, you can either use an eyebrow serum such as the Rapidlash Eyebrow Enhancing Serum and as a natural alternative castor oil or even better- peppermint oil which one study found promoted hair growth. But remember, it may take some time before you can see your brows growing back.
Try braided hairstyles
There’s something romantic about braids that can soften everyone’s features. There’s also a lot of different braiding techniques for almost any hair type out there. While it is best to let a professional do more complicated braid dos for you, you can also do the classic French braid by yourself. Braids are also adorned by many celebrities this year, and you can find plenty of inspiration from your favorite celebrities such as Solange Knowles, FKA Twigs, and Jessica Alba.
A bit of change in your usual beauty routine can be a good thing, and what is best of all – you don’t need to splurge money on reinventing yourself. A bit of glitter here, a touch of color there and you’ll see drastic changes in your beauty look. Also, using new skin care technology such as Cellogica can bring drastic changes on aging skin. Take these couple of tips and tricks as rough guidelines for a chic new you.
