Ready for Spring? Don’t Miss These 9 Hair Colour Trends for 2017

Check out the latest hair colour trends for 2017, designed to brighten looks for spring. It’s time to escape the winter gloom & get ready for warmer weather!

As we look forward to the change of seasons and the welcome break from cold and dreary weather, this could be the ideal time to freshen up your hair for spring. Fortunately, finding a new look is easy this year with the new trends in hair colour. Hair colour is expected to be huge this year with everyone from celebrities to wig designers starting to adopt bold new looks for spring.

1. Steel Blonde
Somewhere between grey and blond lies this new colour. Strong, bold, and yet wearable, expect to see steel blonde worn by strong women with gumption. To keep your hair colour from drifting into a look from The Golden Girls, keep a strong under layer or roots in a black or other strong colour. For an ultra-dramatic look, pair the steel blond with roots, under layer, or tips in a deep, deep almost black purple or blue.

2. Blorange
Blorange is the new blond this year. While we saw hints of oranges start to creep into hair colours in 2016, this year expect to see the look full-blown. This hair colour falls between blonde and red hair, adding a new pow of colour for spring. Warmer than blond, this could be just the colour you need to perk up your look after a long, cold winter.

3. Grey
Grey is in and not just with the older set. Not only are we seeing powerful women embrace their gorgeous grey hair from Hollywood to the boardroom, younger women are now dying their hair grey. Pure white or grey is dramatic and still easily wearable anywhere, from the club to conservative workplaces.

4. Bronde
Want to a fresh look for your brunette hair for summer but aren’t interested in going blond? Check out bronde! Between a blond and a brown, this can be the perfect way to lighten up your look without committing to hours spent in root touch-up. Darker than a traditional blonde and without out the butter yellow tones, bronde can be easier to wear than the more golden tones of a traditional blonde. Think of it as a slightly sun kissed version of your winter brunette colour but with a more consistent colour overall, rather than highlights.

5. Roots
Darker roots are again in season but, unlike 2016, not just a hint of roots. Expect to see long lengths of five or more inches of darker roots with lighter ends. This look features the colour and tone shift of ombre hair but in a crisp line. The long roots can also make this an easy-care look for those who don’t want to touch up their roots regularly. It is also a fun and summery look, idea for transitioning from winter to spring.

6. Deepest Brown
Many think of spring and summer as a time to move to lighter hair colours. This year expect to see celebrities and other style setters buck that trend. Ultra-dark browns and blacks are expected to be one of the hottest looks for 2017. Dark, dramatic, and mysterious, this could be the sexiest look we see this year.

7. Sombre & Balayage
Ombre is replaced with more subtle tone transitions in sombre and balayage. Sombre features the same difference in colour as in ombre but with a gradual shading from one colour to the other. Balayage is a more natural-looking, freestyle highlighting technique that blends several colours and shades across the length of the hair for a rich look with no obvious colour sections. These two trends provide two ways to add colour without losing the natural look of your hair.

8. Under-Highlights
Another way to add a bit of colour for spring without changing your base colour is the addition of under highlights. Rather than a solid colour, think of a few strands of lighter-colours highlights hidden under the rest of your hair. These hints of colour will add dimension and a pop of colour as you move. This is a great way to lighten your colour for warmer weather in a fresh way.

9. Wigs & Hairpieces
Wigs and hairpieces are set to be big this year. This is partially helped by the greater range of colours and styles now available. Human hair wigs and hair pieces have made it easy to quickly change styles while retaining a natural, comfortable look. Not only can these wigs be styled, they come in a great range of colours and styles. This includes wigs with darker roots and balayage highlights. This is particularly helpful for women trying to grown their hair out and women with hair loss as it allows them to capture the current trends in colour and cuts. Wigs and hairpieces are also a great way for everyone to add variety to their hairstyles or add a touch of colour without having to commit.
