When I think about the perfect lip this is the picture I paint: A full, plump and hydrated lip with just a hint of colour.
Sadly I do not posses this naturally, but I do have a few tips and products which help a lot.
You can apply the best and most expensive lipstick, but if your lips are not properly taken care of, nothing you apply to them will look very attractive.
As a beauty rule I apply a thin layer of Vaseline to my lips every night before bed to ensure that my lips stay hydrated and soft.
To ensure that my lips do not get dry and flaky I exfoliate them once a week.
I start off my applying a thick layer of Vaseline and allow it to soak in for about 10 minutes. I then apply a paste (made of olive oil and brown sugar) and gently exfoliate the area using an old toothbrush. And finish off with another coat of Vaseline.
I am not a huge fan of lip liners and I only use two liners to give dimension to my lip rather than colour.
I apply a lip liner slightly darker than my natural lip shade to the outer parts of my upper and bottom lip (My top pick Essence lip liner in Honey bun) and then fill in my cupids bow and the centre of my lips with a white eye pencil (Avon colortrend pencil in white) I then apply my colour of choice over that and my lips instantly appear fuller.
I mostly wear nude /pale lipstick colours. During the day it looks clean, natural and effortlessly chic. I am an eye girl so when I go out at night I love pairing a dramatic eye with a nude lip.
My favourite nude combination is Revlon beyond natural protective lip tint 010 natural pink (can also be used as a cream blush) topped off with the Revlon beyond natural cream lip-gloss. This combination works perfectly for me and I love how the lipstick provides SPF protection as well.
My second most worn lipstick colour is pink. I love that it still looks natural but adds a bit of colour, femininity and innocence to any look.
My top picks for a soft pink are Clinique Bamboo pink and Revlon Plump perfect lipcolour 018 sweet seduction. I usually mix the two together to give me a fresh, girly pout.
For a vibrant pink look I have two options, a matte look and a glossy look.
For a glossy hot pink lip I use Revlon Super lustrous lipstick pearl 657 fuchsia fusion. My go to matte
I only wear red lipstick on very special occasions because it requires perfect application and constant checking.
But when I do decide to do a red lip I like it very bright and vibrant so I mix colours. I use the Elizabeth Arden Golden poppy, which is a very bright orange colour and I mix it with a deep red/maroon. (I really don’t know the brand but it’s a cheap drugstore one) and then top it off with a bright red cream gloss from Victoria Jackson.
I hardly ever wear dark brown lipsticks I find that they make me look older. But the two colours which look ok on me are Revlon Super lustrous lipstick pearl330 sandstorm and Revlon Super lustrous lipstick crème 630 raisin rage.
My number 1 lip-gloss is Revlon Colour stay Mineral lipglaze 505 never ending nude.
