I am on a quest for long, healthy and shiny hair. I have posted 2 posts about horse shampoo (so check that out if you are interested) but my new recruit is coconut oil.
I have heard many wonderful things about this product and decided to try it out for myself. The coconut oil which I am using is an organic one which I got at a grocery store (Super inexpensive).
How to apply it
*Wet hair (do not shampoo)
**Apply the oil onto to your hair starting at the scalp and working your way through the lengths of your hair (The coconut oil is a solid but it melts fairly easily once it is in your hand, if you prefer you can make about a tbl of the oil, place it in a jar and then submerge the oil in water until its a liquid)
***Comb through your hair
****Optional : I like to lightly blowdry my scalp. I didnt know this but my hairstylist mentioned that leaving your scalp wet actually promotes dandruff formation.
*****Leave on the oil for an hour (or in my case overnight)
******Wash hair as usual
I noticed a BIG difference after the first use. My hair appeared shiner and was a lot softer and had a lot less knots.
I am currently using the coconut oil twice a week.
Coconut oil can also be used to remove makeup, as an eye cream and as an all over body butter.
I added a few tsp of the oil with glycerine to my body butter:-)
I recently started using the Dove heat defense shampoo and conditioner and I LOVE IT!!!!! I find that on my hair it works a lot better than the other shampoo brands
