How to Exfoliate Skin at Home

Cleansing and moisturizing isn't enough. Exfoliating is the only way to ensure baby soft skin. When you exfoliate, you remove the dead layer of skin cells and prepare your skin for moisturizer. Exfoliating can also make your complexion more lively and restore your skin's natural glow. Learn how to exfoliate with ingredients you can find in your house kitchen.

1. Sugar Facial (two ways)

a.) Mix a tablespoon of white sugar and enough of your facial wash to make a paste. Gently massage your face using your fingers with this preparation for about 5 minutes before rinsing it with warm water.

b.) In a small mixing bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of sugar. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. If you don't have olive oil, try baby oil, it doesn't work as well for the glowing look you desire, but it will do. Add 2 tablespoons of yogurt to the mixture. Mix all ingredients until it forms a paste. Before applying to your face, test a small amount of paste on the inner portion of your arm. If you desire a more smooth consistency add a 1/2 teaspoon. of yogurt. If you would like a more rigid exfoliator add 1 tablespoon. of sugar to the mix. Mix well, and gently apply to wet face in a circular motion avoiding eyes. Massage into skin for about a minute and rinse with luke warm water. Pat dry with towel.

2. Cut a slice of fresh pineapple into chunks and place in a blender. Add three tablespoons of olive oil (extra virgin olive oil is best). Blend until you get a smooth paste. Apply all over your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Use gentle circular motion when you wash it off. Rinse with warm water and pat your face dry.

3. Extract the juice of two ripe apples and four ripe pears using a juicer. Cut strips of cotton material from an old T-shirt or fleece shirt (use white or any light colored ones as dark colors may react with the acids from the juices). Soak the strips in the juice and lay them acrossyour face while you rest for about ten to fifteen minutes before you take a shower.

4. For quick exfoliation, cut thick slices of lemon and gently rub the slices all over your face. Lemon can also lighten blemishes, fight blackheads and tighten pores. Rinse with water.

Exfoliating can also make your complexion more lively and restore your skin's natural glow.
