How to survive air travel with an infant?

A lot of people think that travelling with
an infant is very difficult and hence cancel most of their travel plans. Well,
that is really not the case. Any sort of travelling requires planning and a lot
of it. Travelling with an infant is the same; it is about planning, and when a
baby is involved planning could go wrong in all sorts of ways so it requires
some plan Bs and plan Cs. Plans about how to reach the airport, plans about the
flight and also plans about travelling on reaching the destination. It is
essential to have it all planned. For example, on reaching St Louis there are
numerous car services like St Louis limos, St Louis party bus, cabs etc
available which can be reserved earlier or on the spot. Party busses can be
great for a travel group. Having an infant along in an air travel is definitely
a task and a very new experience, but if done properly can be smoother than
expected. This article is all about the tips and tricks to travel in a flight
with a baby. Here they are-

·
As discussed, planning is the
key. Earlier reservations for flights are mandatory so that one can reserve the
seats they want to. Reserving a bulk head seat and a bassinet if available can
be a great start. Also, when one is with a baby, boarding the plane early can
prove to be a great decision.

·
Now it is well known that air
planes do not allow a lot of stuff to be carried; usually a hand bag with no
more than 10 kgs in it. So, minimizing the gear is an essential step. Having
one suitcase and one carry on is advised. Any more than this can call for
trouble.

·
So, carry a change of clothes
for the baby in the carry on back pack. One should not forget to carry a change
of t-shirt for themselves. With a baby, it is good to be prepared for any
circumstance.

·
Landing and takeoff can be a
little overwhelming for the babies because of the change in altitude and air
pressure. Feeding them during these times can be a good idea as that will keep
them from screaming their little lungs out.

·
Having a carrier or a wrap and
trying to get the infant to sleep at strategic transit hours can be a great
deal of help. This can definitely help one buy enough time to check in, get
through security etc before the baby wakes up.

·
It is important that one should
not get stressed out about the schedule of the baby because it can be
difficult. So avoid watching the clock and try following a rhythm. It might
take some time for the baby to adjust to the new time zone.

·
The most important part is to
make sure that the baby is not hungry. Feeding is a great way to keep the baby
happy. Also, with a nipple in the mouth, it would be hard for the baby to
scream.

Yes, travelling
with a baby can be overwhelming but can be a great experience for the parents
and also for the baby. So, with proper planning there would not be much
difficulty surviving the flight.
