How A Mini Tummy Tuck Is Performed?
A mini tummy tuck is a bit different than a standard tummy tuck in Portland Oregon. A mini tummy tuck is a body contouring procedure that removes excess fat while it tightens loose skin on the lower abdominal region. This procedure may take around 2 hours and those who do not want to get a complete abdominoplasty opt for it. The side effects of a mini tummy tuck are tenderness s and uncomfortable swelling. A small incision will be made over the pubic area, so that some level of liposuction can be done. Excess skin that may be a result of weight loss or a result of pregnancy is then excised. The belly button which is normally repositioned during a complete tummy tuck procedure will be left alone during a mini tummy tuck. Small sutures may be used for closing tubes that are inserted inside to let out the excess fluid. The entire area will be covered by elastic bandage and it will be done as an outpatient procedure.
You will need to put on a compression garment and a girdle like apparatus for 2 to 3 weeks to keep the area tight during the healing process. A compression garment helps in improving circulation and reduces the swelling. There are specialty garments available online and tighter products should be used in the first weeks after the surgery while looser ones should be worn only after the first 8 weeks for long term recovery. Compression garments are made in different shapes and there are full body girdles that have bras attached to them and simple wraps with elastic braces which come with velcro enclosures..
How long a mini tummy tuck takes to heal will vary from one patient to another depending on individual health. Those who have strong abdominal muscles may heal in 2 weeks while those who do not do exercise may take longer to heal. Small abdominal exercises like light crunches may help speeding up the recovery process while reducing stiffness and pain. Walking is required to help in getting back in shape and to reduce any chance of blood clots, but strenuous exercises such as running or lifting heavy things should be considered only after 6 weeks.
