Ideas to keep safe at home. We plan to take a few days update to go over some things you can start doing today that could improve safety in your home. Some ideas you may have thought of before, but there may be some new ideas you learn today. Whatever the cause may be you should put together a plan of action to help get yourself started. There should really be a sense of urgency, especially if you are someone who has fallen or have balancing issues.
Remove any obstructions in commonly used places such as the living room, dining room, hallways, as well as stairwells. Things that can cause an individual to fall include clothing left on the floor. Food or dishes that haven't been put away, also power cords that are dangerous places can cause you to fall. there are power cord organizers available at most hardware stores. You can also consider using a surge protector to organize your cords if you have a high number of them. Another option is to move cords wherever possible to different locations that will not cause you to trip. Poor or inadequate lighting can cause accidents. This is especially true when you are a caretaker for an individual who tries to get up at night but forgets to turn on the lights. A motion activated lighting source may be a great idea for someone such as this. For those that are able to remember to use lighting buy may have trouble switching a light source on you should probably consider some kind of light that is ease to activate. Consider purchasing a wall light that is triggered by a simple push, or you could go with a sound activated lighting source.
If you are in fact struggling to get out of bed or are in need of support in the bathroom then you may want consider buying an assisted device such as bed rails. You may have heard of the products such as The Superpole System. It works by tightening by jackscrew expansion. This can be accomplished by inserting a screwdriver through the whole at the bottom and turning it clockwise. You will Superpole's top is situated securely against the ceiling.
