Do you know what love handles are? They are the part of your belly that sags just above your waistline. Not only does it look distasteful, but it can also make you feel uncomfortable. In addition, it becomes the storage area for excess fat, so it promotes poor health.

There are many factors that cause love handles. One of them is poor diet. If you consume too many carbohydrates, you are more likely to develop love handles over a short period of time. Lack of exercise is also another factor, especially when you sit around every day doing nothing.

It’s easy to get love handles, but it’s difficult to remove them. Nonetheless, there are several ways to remove love handles over a period of time, and today we will discuss these. Let’s get started!


  • Adequate Sleep

When you lack sleep, your metabolism becomes poor. As a result, the fats and carbohydrates in your diet are not properly burned.

  • Reduce Stress

It’s impossible to remove stress because it’s all around us, but you can reduce it by managing your habit and lifestyle. Stress can affect the production of cortisol.

When cortisol levels become too high, the muscle mass gets easily broken down. This mass adds to the fat deposit around the belly.


  • Green Tea

Green tea is an effective way to improve metabolism. It helps burn excess fat and calories inside the body.

Love handles are also caused by excessive sugar intake. To slow the absorption of sugar, you should eat figs or incorporate them in your diet.

You can add them to oatmeal or yogurt. However, just be sure to add them as they contain lots of fiber.

Foods that are rich in simple-chain carbohydrates like processed foods are the ones that primarily cause love handles. Complex carbs instead provide a good source of fiber and a good alternative.

Water does not only improve the metabolism; it also occupies much of the space that can be taken by foods rich in carbohydrates. Drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

  • Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the most powerful nutrients that burn fat. Without it, fat metabolism becomes slow. This makes it impossible to use the stored fats.

Vitamin C is the most important ingredient in fat metabolism. Foods that are rich in vitamin C are citrus, grapes, papaya, strawberries, broccoli, and tomatoes.


  • Jogging

Jogging is the most popular exercises for losing weight. It directly burns stored fat into energy. This can reduce fat just about everywhere in the body.

  • Cycling

Cycling is another popular exercise than can effectively reduce weight and burn fat. This will burn belly fat and love handles and help flatten out your stomach. Moreover, it promotes good blood circulation, which also helps improve your metabolism.

  • Aerobics and Zumba

Aerobics and Zumba are two similar types of exercises that are proven to remove love handles and belly fat. To effectively reduce love handles, try to use a binder or a girdle. Women can also use jazz dance shoes for more flexibility when it comes to both aerobics and Zumba.


Love handles may not really bring serious health problems, but the more you let this get out of control the harder it will be to lose them later. Moreover, it affects your self-esteem.
