4 Ways to Eat Healthier in 2017

One of the biggest resolutions people make is wanting to work out more. People join gyms and come up with new exercise routines to try to get themselves in shape for the new year and maintain it throughout. But exercising isn’t the only way to stay fit; eating healthy on a regular basis can greatly help your efforts and can help you save time exercising!

Eat More Veggies

When making your meals, vegetables should make up a hefty portion. This is the healthiest part of your meal, offering you the most nutrients and energy. Unlike other foods, vegetables have no adverse side effects on your health. Therefore, you should try to make sure that veggies make up about half of your meal.

Another important tip is to eat your veggies first. You’ll want to make sure that you get these down before anything else since they are the best for you. If you’re like me and you don’t like your veggies, then save the item you like the most for last and start with your vegetables! No matter how you motivate yourself, if you can eat in that order you should see yourself finishing all your veggies and leaving other foods that aren’t as good for you.

Another great way to incorporate more vegetables in your diet is to add them to your breakfast. Consider having part of a salad with your breakfast, or turn your bacon and eggs into a breakfast sandwich topped with spinach or kale. This can be a great way to make sure you always get enough vegetables.

Replace Pop With Water

We love our sugary drinks, especially pop. In fact, many of us drink more than one can of pop a day. With such high levels of sugars and additives, these do absolutely nothing for our health and can actually hurt us. Although it’s not easy to fight our cravings, if you can replace one of these sugary drinks with a glass of water each day will go a long way for helping your health.

In general, reducing your sugar intake is one of the best ways to maintain a healthy diet. Although there are good sugars, these are natural sugars that you should get with your regular meals. Eating more fruits will give you the natural sugars that you want without any of the added baggage.

This is a great tip, especially for those who struggle with thinning hair or hair loss. If you are currently using rogaine, adding more water to your diet can greatly increase the success of growing and strengthening your hair.

Have a Meatless Day Each Week

Another great way of helping your health is by avoiding meat one day a week and sticking to a more vegetarian diet. By doing this once a week, you’ll help cleanse your body and ensure that you get added benefits from this diet. Having a healthy amount of plant proteins once a week instead of animal proteins is thought to add to long-term health.

Choose Healthy Snacks

Part of unhealthy eating stems from the fact that snacking is often something that doesn’t include healthy foods. We often snack with foods that don’t contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Instead, make snacking a healthy habit as well. If you enjoy carrots, salads, or fruit instead of rice crispy squares and chocolate, you will see a major difference in your life.

Even these four simple steps can help you significantly increase your regular health and allow you to maintain it throughout the new year. It may not be easy, but if you can get yourself into a solid routine and motivate yourself to keep it up, you’ll see your health rise throughout 2017.
