Review of 100% Pure: Honey Coconut Sulfate Free Shampoo & Conditioner – Turn Dry, Damaged Hair into Silk

Transform your shower into a virtual Hawaiian escape…Transform your hair into a luxurious cascade of silky strands!

Whenever the seasons change, my hair tends to look and feel a bit like straw. The ends feel uber dry, and my summer highlights begin fading, giving my hair an overall dull appearance.  As this is a common scenario for many women, Honey Coconut hair products from 100% Pure have come to the rescue.

First off, both the shampoo and conditioner have an AMAZING scent. They conjure a day on the beach inHawaiiwith the scent of coconut wafting through the air. Normally, I’m not one to care what my hair products smell like, until now. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to any other products; these have completely spoiled me rotten!

The Honey Coconut Shampoo manages to create a rich foaming lather without the help of sulfates. It actually leaves the hair so clean that it becomes a bit tangled after rinsing, but this is quickly remedied with the application of the Honey Coconut Conditioner. I would highly recommend that you use both products in conjunction with each other. It is very important to shake the bottle of shampoo before use, to properly mix all of the ingredients that may have settled at the bottom of the container.

Since my skin & scalp are incredibly oily, I was a bit hesitant about switching to sulfate free shampoo, for fear it would not dissolve the oils, leaving my hair looking greasy.  I’ve tried a barrage of sulfate free items, most of which left me unimpressed because my hair never really felt clean. This shampoo has completely changed my mind. I don’t know how it manages to seek and destroy the nasty scalp oils while leaving my hair feeling so soft and supple – but it does! I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has damaged hair and/or an oily scalp.

**Side Note:  Sulfates are the “scrubbing bubbles” of shampoo, which create a thick foaming lather. They make your hair and scalp feel squeaky clean, but unfortunately they also strip away all natural oils from your hair shaft, which are meant to keep hair soft and supple. If you struggle with issues such as fading hair color, or dry, damaged, coarse hair, it may be due to the sulfates in your hair products. Almost all drugstore brand shampoos, and many high end brands as well, contain damaging sulfates. These 100% Pure products contain absolutely no sulfates and are made with an impressive blend of natural, hair-nourishing ingredients.

The Honey Coconut Conditioner is a rich, thick product that melts into your hair like (shea) butter! Best of all, a small amount goes a long way. Since I’m used to applying a very large portion of drugstore brand conditioner to successfully tame and moisturize my locks, I used probably twice as much as I needed. It squirts out of the tube looking almost like a strand of clay, and then begins to dissolve effortlessly into your hair. For short hair I would suggest a 1 inch dollop, for medium hair – 1.5 inches, and for long hair 2 inches.

Squeeze excess water out of hair after rinsing away the shampoo, and then used a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner evenly. I would suggest piling your hair into a bun using a coated elastic band, and leaving the conditioner in hair throughout the duration of your shower for at least 5 minutes. Always make sure to shampoo/condition immediately when starting to shower, so that your hair can reap the benefits of conditioner while the shower is creating hot steam.  The heat & humidity gathered while showering helps conditioner penetrate the hair for maximum results. For super hair therapy, leave conditioner on for an hour after showering, and cover head with a plastic cap plus an insulated heat cap. Rinse thoroughly.

I allowed my hair to air-dry in a bun, to create some natural waves. This is how it looked immediately after I removed the bun. I used no other styling products or appliances.

Final Thoughts:

I have a salon appointment for the end of this week to chop off the dry ends and get darker, more vibrant coloring. After using this shampoo/conditioner combo, I actually considered canceling my appointment because my hair was so soft and shiny. Although I’ll still be switching to a darker hair color for the winter, I will continue to use the Honey & Coconut Shampoo to keep my hair looking great and preserve my new color.

These products would be great for anyone with dry or damaged hair, coarse or chemically treated hair, an oily scalp, or those wanting a sulfate-free system to achieve longer lasting color. It would also be perfect for those who are using the Brazilian Keratin Treatment and need Sulfate Free products. The Honey & Coconut combo breathes new life into your hair!

The 100% Pure website sells these products in small containers so you can “test drive” them before buying larger sizes. You can purchase 2 ounce bottles for $8, but the best deal is definitely the 8oz bottle for $16.
