We are already well into spring, and chances are your spring wardrobe has been ready for a while. Spring comes with different splashes of colour that are bold, bright, and beautiful, and it is important that you choose your outfits to complement the elements of this season.
On the off chance that your busy schedule has delayed your spring prep, here are a few fashion tips to help you master the spring style.
Do a wardrobe review:
Your first step towards staying stylish this spring is to review your wardrobe. A lot of the outfits you have in there may not work for the spring weather, so you will need to get some that do. Because fashion comes around full circle, you may have a few things from last season that you can use. I am talking about the sundresses, sleeveless tops, maxi dresses and skirts, spring prints, and so on. The good thing about styling yourself for spring is that it involves a lot of mixing and matching, which means that you can always get the perfect combo from what you have. However, it is always a good idea to have a few trendy outfits to complement what you have. Pop over to RachelPally for some spring fashion choices.
Mix and match like a pro:
The most popular print for spring is definitely the floral print. However, rather than wearing a floral piece alone, mix things up by contrasting it with other designs or colours. The secret to mixing like a pro is to make sure that the two pieces you are mixing fall within the same colour spectrum.
Additionally, try to combine prints with different patterns. For instance, a full floral skirt with a few dark blue flower designs will go well with a dark blue or black striped top. Adding something as simple as a denim jacket will give you that sexy, sophisticated ‘this is spring’ look, and the result will be the ideal outfit for work or play.
Spring is not the time for dull or heavy colors, you can do that all you want in the autumn. Spring is a time of vivid colors and bright weather, this means vivid colors in breathable fabrics. Stylish for spring calls for light or bright outfits and few heavy colours. However, if you must wear dark colours, spice them up with something vivid.
As much as you can, keep your look light and comfortable, after all, that is what spring is really about, the chance to be bright, have fun and enjoy the environment. I don’t really see anyone doing that in dark and gloomy outfits.
On those days when you feel like wearing clothes with more toned down colours or styles, make use of accessories to add charm and make a statement. I am talking about shoes that add a splash of colour to your whole outfit, and draw attention to the legs. Or you can opt for a floral scarf that could hang delicately around your shoulders.
Alternatively, you can settle for a handbag with a colour or colours that are not anywhere else in your ensemble, this will bring your look up a notch and let people know that your casual look was intentional. If, however, you prefer to dress more for comfort and less for style, use small accessories to give your look that seasonal chic.
Wear trans–seasonal pieces:
While there are specific outfits that you can only wear in spring, there are other versatile clothes that are trans-seasonal, which means that you can wear them in any season or any time of the year. Outfits like these include button down shirts, which you can wear on their own or over a sundress, or t-shirts that you can throw over a pair of jeans or leggings. Versatile pieces like these should make up the content of your spring wardrobe, so you can create a range of looks that will work for spring temperatures.
Footwear for spring:
I just love the way lace up shoes work for spring. These are shoes you can rely on for any occasion this season. Love them or hate them, lace up shoes are perfect for work and play, and you can be sure they will complete any outfit.
One good thing about lace up shoes is that you can never have too many of them, from gladiators to easy casual affairs. While lace up shoes are important, you also need something you can slip on your feet with little fuss. I am talking mules, clogs and slip-ons. This type of footwear will complement virtually any kind of outfit, and will keep you comfortable all day long.
Yellow for the sunny days:
If there is one color you must have in your wardrobe, it is yellow. Even on the worst days, yellow will always brighten things up. There is a lot of demand for yellow dresses this spring, and even if you are not the sort of person who pays attention to trends, try to have at least one yellow blouse or mini dress in your spring collection. You can always pair it with skinny jeans, black leggings or a pair of sexy shorts for a day in the sun.
