Man, I love the Beastie Boys.
Okay. So, my friend Jen makes jewelry.
"Cas, are you trying to sell us something? I'm pretty sure we get enough of that on this site."
No, no. I'm not trying to convince you to buy anything. I'm not that shiesty.
I want to talk to you about the power of creativity.
Now, we've all been to etsy, we know that there are some creative people in this world who make amazing things. Sometimes it's easy to feel like you'll never be that awesome and imaginitive. But you are, on both counts. You are both awesome and super creative. You just may not have found your outlet yet.
I know people who draw comics, people who write novels, musicians, painters, sculpters...and honestly, I sometimes feel like I don't have a single drop of creative blood inside me. But here's the truth: I am the most creative romantic I know.
I love spoiling people with love notes or baked goods. I come up with new ways to surprise those people I love nearly daily. I make playlists. I plan trips out of town for the weekend. I research new places to grab lunch. Hell, I'll even leave a sweet card under your windshield wiper if you're having a bad week.
My point is this: though I may not be able to draw, paint, or sew, I am SO creative when it comes to appreciating or loving someone. Creativity is in every person, all the time. You just have to find it where it speaks to you the most.
And when you create something that's so good, when you can look at your work and feel proud of it, your self confidence is boosted monumentally. You feel like you can do anything. You're Wonder Person, and you make stuff awesome just by looking at it. Self confidence is very, very important in the process of both loving and understanding yourself, and I put the utmost value in creativity as a way to bolster self confidence.
So, I want to know. In what ways are you creative? And, even if you're bad at it, what do you absolutely love to do to let out all the awesome that's inside you? (Personally, I love to sing, but only ever do it alone in the car because I am AWFUL).
I love all of your faces, all day, every day.
