What is Botox and How Does it Work?
Botox in Fort Wayne is a botulinum toxin (type A) in medical grade form and it is used to relax or soften harsh expressions and forehead lines as well as crow’s feet that develop around the eyes. Botulin toxin commonly known as Botox, is a compound produced from Bacterium Closteridium botulinum. It is an enzyme that will break down some of the fusion proteins allowing neurons to release acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction. This interferes with the nerve impulse and causes temporary paralysis of the facial muscles resulting in a more relaxed look.
Botox treatments are not highly-invasive and aim to reduce facial signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles. As it happens with all treatments, it is important to follow the instructions of the doctor after getting the treatment. A patient will only feel minimal discomfort while he or she is being injected. This is because only fine needles are used to inject the muscles. You may notice some tenderness, redness and bruising after the injection. The injection on its own is more like an insect bite and it will not require you to use any painkillers. The procedure takes only a few minutes with little downtime afterward.
If you feel tenderness, you may use cold compress to provide some relief. Some patients may see red dots at the injections’ sites but makeup can hide them. Any swelling and red dots will be reduced in just a few hours. The patient can resume normal work or daily activities. The doctors recommend not to lie down in the first four hours after this procedure and to avoid doing any strenuous exercise.
