All the Information You Need Before Undergoing Breast Augmentation

All the Information You Need Before Undergoing Breast Augmentation

Some women may decide to get a breast augmentation in Boston when they are not aware of all the options available to them for breast enhancement or the risks that are involved with this procedure. Such uncertainty will prevent them against speaking with a doctor about other alternatives available.

How long it takes for someone to get well after the breast augmentation procedure varies from one person to another. Many patients may spend the first day recovering in the hospital so that they can be monitored closely. It is important to ask your doctor how you should prepare yourself for this surgery. You will need to take extra care if you want to recover faster. When the surgical procedure is complete, the doctor will insert some drainage tubes at the incision site in order to remove the remaining blood and tissue fluids. These drainage tubes are important since they help in preventing infection; if these tubes are not in place, it may lead to complications after the procedure.

After the surgery, you may some discomfort and this is very normal. When the pain is unbearable, the doctor may insert catheters so that the pain medication can be administered directly into the surgical site. The doctor will also prescribe oral medication when needed. Anticoagulants like aspirin can be given in order to prevent the possibility of blood clotting. There are things that you avoid after breast augmentation to ensure easy healing. Many surgeons will recommend not showering within the first week of your surgery. This is to avoid any disruption to the sutures at the surgical site; you should also avoid putting pressure on the surgical area since this may also interfere with the sutures. You will have to get enough rest and avoid any strenuous activity up to the time that your surgeon does not approve them.
