10 Crazy Makeup Tricks That'll Make You Look 10 Years Younger

Do you want to look younger with just a few makeup products? Discover the magic of makeup with these makeup tricks that anyone can do.

Ask just about any woman out there, and she'll tell you that she either wants to look younger or wants to preserve her youth.

There's a reason the anti-aging industry will be worth over $216 billion by the year 2021.

Are you interested in learning how you can restore or preserve your youth?

There are a million different creams and serums on the market that claim to help you achieve these results. Sometimes, though, just a few simple changes to your makeup routine can make all the difference.

Read on to learn about some awesome makeup tricks that will help you look more youthful.

1. Use the Right Foundation

One of the most common mistakes women make is using the wrong foundation. This mistake can age your skin and actually emphasize the areas that you want to cover up.

Look for a sheer coverage foundation, and go easy on the amount that you use. You really don't need as much as you might initially think.

Full-coverage foundations, especially when you're heavy handed with them, can look heavy on the skin and make it look dull.

2. Fill in Your Eyebrows

Full (yet still well-groomed) eyebrows can instantly make you look more youthful.

If you're guilty of overplucking your eyebrows when you were younger (let's face it, who didn't?), invest in a good eyebrow pencil to fill in the gaps.

If you have dark hair, choose a pencil that's one shade lighter than your natural coloring. If you have blonde hair, choose a pencil that's one shade darker. This will help your brows look more natural.

3. Highlight the Eyes

You might think it's a bad idea to highlight your eyes, especially if you have crows feet or other fine lines that you want to cover up.

In reality, though, strategic highlighting can actually draw attention away from these imperfections.

Highlight the inner corners of your eyes. This brightens up your whole face and gives you a nice, youthful glow.

4. Go Easy on the Concealer

Concealer is a great thing, especially for covering up dark circles and dark spots on the skin. It is possible to have too much of a good thing, though.

Use concealer sparingly, and blend it in thoroughly. If you use too much concealer, you'll end up drawing attention to the areas you're trying to conceal.

Choose a liquid concealer that comes in a pen. Liquid concealers are easy to blend and won't look waxy or build up on the skin or leave it with a waxy finish.

5. Lighten Up on the Powder

Too much powder can leave your skin looking dull and dry. Your skin already naturally dries as you age -- don't exaggerate it by piling on powder.

Ideally, you'd skip powder altogether and embrace a little natural shine. If you must use powder, though, choose one that's made with a silica formula and is free of mica and talc. These minerals can leave dry skin looking cakey.

Apply this powder only to your T-zone (the forehead, down the nose, and chin). Use a domed eyeshadow brush or even a powder puff to apply just a small amount.

6. Choose Peach or Coral Blush

The right shade of blush can instantly brighten up your face and help you look more youthful. The wrong shade, though, can age you dramatically.

A safe blush color for almost everyone is peach (if you have light or medium skin) or coral (if you darker skin).

Choose one of these shades and apply them along the highest point of the cheekbones. This will help show off your bone structure and give your face more definition.

7. Lengthen and Curl the Lashes

Skip heavy eyeliner and dark eye shadow as you get older.

Instead, play up your eyelashes. This will give you the definition you're looking for without making your eyes look smaller or washed out.

Start by curling your lashes to make the eyes appear bigger and brighter. Then, apply a couple coats of lengthening mascara.

Make sure you apply the mascara from root to tip. This will give you the greatest amount of definition.

8. Ditch Your Lipstick

Okay, you don't actually have to ditch your lipstick altogether. But you should at least invest in a moisturizing lipstick in a lighter shade.

Dark, matte lipstick makes your lips look small. They will also exaggerate and dryness that you're experiencing.

Choose light, natural lipstick shades, or a consider a lipgloss instead. Lipgloss will keep your lips bright, shiny, and well-hydrated.

9. Line Your Lips

If you are wearing lipstick, be sure to line your lips, too. Your lips tend to get thinner as you age. Lining your lips helps to add more shape and definition to the lips so they stand out.

Just be sure to choose the right shade of lip liner. It should match the shade of your lipstick. If it's too dark, it will have the opposite of the intended effect and will make your lips look smaller and thinner.

10. Use a Primer

Finally, be sure to use a primer before applying your foundation and concealer. A good primer, like the one offered by Prime Women, helps to even everything out and create a great base for all of your makeup.

It will allow products to go on more smoothly and will help you avoid creases. A good primer will also give your skin a little extra moisture and conceal any dryness you're experiencing as you get older.
