Victoria Osteen – A Short Bio

Victoria Osteen’s name rings a bell in the religious world. She is the wife of Pastor Joel Osteen and co-pastor of the mega-church, The Lakewood Church located at Houston, Texas. It is a non-denominational church said to be the largest in the whole of the United States. According to recent statistics, the congregation averages over 50,000 attendees per week.

Victoria Osteen (nee Lloff) was born on 28th March, 1961 in Huntsville, Alabama. The first two years of her life was spent close to Marshall Space Flight Center as his father who is a mathematician worked at the Center. They later moved to Houston in 1963. Victoria was born into a very religious family little wonder where her great Christian values comes from. Her father was a deacon at The Church of Christ and her mother, Georgine Iloff, was a Sunday School teacher at the same church. She served alongside her father in his parish, welcoming parishioners and assisting with the offerings. This is how she inadvertently got some ministerial experience oblivious of the fact it will later be her life’s calling.

Victoria Osteen studied Psychology at the University of Houston, however she did not graduate. Whilst in school, she juggled between her mom’s jewelry business and her education. She was very good at the business. Customers testified that for every skin tone, Victoria Osteen had a befitting jewelry for it. It was also during this time that she met her husband, when he came to purchase a product. They married a year later so she left the business to concentrate fully on church ministry.

Victoria is a model to a lot of women. As a mother, she inspires and mentors them so much. Always putting on a charming smile, no wonder her face is devoid of wrinkles. Victoria Osteen empowers women to grow stronger in their Christian faith through her Women’s Ministry instituted in 2003. She also supported various charity organizations and received a community impact award in 2006 for her compassion and dedication towards helping the lives of those around her.

In 2005, Victoria was accused of assault by a flight attendant for Continental Airlines before a flight from Houston, Texas to Vail, Colorado. The Osteen family was debarked as she was accused of interfering with a member of the flight crew. She maintained her innocence but lost the case, paying a fine of $3000 which she paid albeit grudgingly. She was later cleared of the charges in 2008 when a jury acquitted her and cleared her of all civil liability in the matter. In 2008, she published a book, Love Your Life. It sold 750,000 copies, one of the highest by any US publisher that year. The following year, she published a children’s book which was also very successful and well-received by the public.

Victoria Osteen is described by many as beautiful and charming. She doesn’t look like she ages a bit. Several interviewers have tried to find out if this was because of anti-aging creams but Victoria Osteen always laughs it off, telling them that God frowns at the alteration of our body as we were created in his image. She is blessed with two children and resides in a $10.5 million mansion house with her family.
